Report Cards, Graduation, Shared Staffing, and More!

Fall has flown by and in just a few weeks, we are going to be wrapping up the first semester and starting the second half of the school year!

I want to share a few important updates with our consortium partners as we enter this new season.

Report Cards & Transcripts

After the end of the first semester, our office will be sending all of our consortium districts the final grades for students enrolled from their district, along with teacher names, license numbers, and other information.  We ask that all of our partner districts enter these grades into their Student Information System for state reporting and transcript purposes. As consortium students follow local graduation requirements according to district policy, it’s important for our consortium schools to keep an updated transcript for the RVA students.

RVA Class of 2020 - Graduation

This year the RVA Class of 2020 will have over 100 students graduating!  We are very excited for all of our graduates and are looking forward to celebrating their accomplishments.

RVA students get their choice of which graduation ceremony they want to participate in, either the RVA’s or their local consortium district’s, but they can only participate in one.  The RVA’s Graduation Ceremony is on May 29, 2020 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Wausau, WI.

The RVA seniors are completing a graduation survey and providing us with a variety of information including which ceremony they'd like to participate in, how they want their name to read on the diploma, future plans, etc.  We will provide our consortium districts with this information after it’s all compiled.

Regardless of which ceremony the students are participating in, the RVA will be providing the diploma and cover for all RVA Graduates.  As students are graduating from the RVA, this is the only diploma they should receive. We will send the diplomas and covers for the RVA graduates to our consortium districts prior to graduation.

Shared Staffing

We are currently working on putting together our RVA Course Catalog and 2020-21 master schedule.  Every year, we ask our consortium districts if they have any high school teachers that they’d like to share with the RVA. Here are the details of sharing a teacher with the RVA:

  • If a teacher has an open hour in their day, has a small class, or is just looking for something extra to do, they might want to consider teaching a live, online class for the RVA.

  • Districts will receive a $5,000 reimbursement per teacher/per section for having them share instruction with RVA students.

  • School districts can have their own “brick and mortar” students in these classes using a blended learning model of instruction.

  • This is a great opportunity to build blended online learning opportunities in your school.

  • Teachers can use online content that is either provided to them or materials they’ve created on their own.  For teachers using the RVA Online courses, the bulk of the work creating the course content has already been done, but teachers are able to customize it.

  • The RVA will provide all professional development for the teacher.

If you have any teachers that would be interested in teaching an RVA class, please send me the information, including the class, teacher, and time of day they are available by January 31, 2020.  Please let me know if you have any questions and thank you for considering this opportunity!
