Connecting Young Wisconsin Writers

The Common Thread is a creative writing publication that brings together high school writers from across Wisconsin. Organized by RVA District Connect and brought to life by high school students, it offers a welcoming platform for poetry, short stories, and original writing of all forms. Our goal is to foster connection, creativity, and mutual respect to amplify young voices, honor diverse perspectives, and help young writers feel part of a larger creative community.

What does YOUR current draft look like?

“The Current Draft” invites writers to explore who they are becoming. This theme centers on growth, self-reflection, and life as an unfolding journey. Writers might reflect on change, identity, uncertainty, resilience, or the moments that shape who we are- no matter how big or small.

This issue is not about having all the answers. It’s about capturing a moment in the draft: honest, evolving, unfinished, and real.
